Eat Like a Lady.

...which is probably the exact opposite of how I eat. I don't know about you, but i grew up with an older brother and i had to eat fast and get lots in advance if i wanted to eat at all! That's why it's nice to change things up a bit from time to time and enjoy a nice girly afternoon having afternoon tea.

chicken salad in a waffle cone - it doesn't look too appetizing but it was actually pretty good!

My girlfriends and I caught up with each other at the Urban Tea Merchant in Downtown Vancouver a few weeks ago. This was my second time ever having afternoon tea and I quite enjoyed it! It was a different experience from my first time at the Fairmont Pacific Rim as this was a little less "fancy" which meant it was more affordable, they had a bigger and more creative tea selection (mango flower black tea...amazing), annnnd best part of all - you get your own tower. I liked this better because I didn't have to think about the speed at which i took things off the tower and ate them, whether or not i should wait for the other person to get their share of chocolate dipped strawberry before i get mine, etc, etc. :P The food was much simpler though, you can tell just from the photos (in comparison to my tea experience here).

Oh afternoon tea is so fun. I just love the towers and presentation. haha I have no table manners growing up in a household of eight and immigrants. I sometimes eat with my hands if I can get away with it. LOL

LOL, I was going to ask if each person got her own tower. That's a good method of both delivery and distribution--it would take a special person to reach over and steal somthing off your tower. =)

Is a chain restaurant called Vie de France in your area? They have great chicken salad--it's sweet and has raisins.

I'm the youngest of 6, but somehow I end up being the slowest eater at any gathering. I can start dinner first (cuz I'm special, haha), but I still finish last.

I love afternoon teas. I went for the first time earlier this month and it was AMAZINGGGG.

But you're right. I was hesitant to eat fast because I had to share my tower with my girlfriends.

But overall, it was a worthwhile experience xD

I can just see the thought process behind the chicken salad/waffle dish... "chicken salad good. Waffle good. Both together = good???" haha

i had my first experience with high tea the past weekend, and i loved it! although it was a very small place which means cheaper, i really like how it's so relaxing. It's so awesome how you get your own tower!

The best part about this tea is that you get your own tower! I agree that the selections seem a little simple for tea but I believe it's the company that matters. I'm craving for tea food now.

Chicken salad in a waffle cone looks SO weird but I want to eat it hehe. I would love to try going out for a 'tea party' sometime, though I know I'd feel all grown up (or like a really little kid playing dress-up or something lol). P.S. I loved your 'novel' of a comment and am going to reply soooon haha :) But for now I can say: OMG WHAT THE HECK IS "DRIVE" ... it was such a weird movie. Well done, but a little too artsy for my liking and that gore came outta nowhere! Loved the music too, though :) <3 you too!

I am currently sitting on campus in a lab where we can't eat and my mouth is watering, I'm seriously leaving after I finish writing this comment to go eat--- and I'm NOT a food person. Your pictures just look so good, especially that waffle cone and chicken salad!

This is awesome. I like the idea that everyone gets their own tower. I hate the idea of sharing cause you're right you usually would be courteous enough to wait for seconds. I am yet to try tea anywhere, lol

Eat like a lady? What's that?

Lol I'd rather eat like a man... I love food too much!

As for high tea, I'm not a huge fan of it. It's a fun experience but I'd rather go somewhere and eat a full meal.

Yes, yes, yes! I love the tower. I've never had an experience like this and I love it!

I didn't know you had glitter shoes... I don't want to copy or anything (my wedding is long in the future) but I kind of want glitter too.

My girlfriends and I went to high tea at Urban Tea Merchant at the wrong time - we had looked at the menu beforehand and it seemed relatively cheaper than other high tea places, but when we got there they had a Mother's Day set menu that we were stuck with (they didn't offer anything else that day) at a whopping price of 60 bucks per person. You can bet that I ate everything in sight and didn't leave a crumb ;P. but admittedly, it was delicious. the lady felt bad for us though so she gave us each a bag of tea leaves which was really nice. I'd def go back again though (sans Mother's Day set menu) and it seemed you had a good time too compared to Fairmont!
