Most of you already know I get mistaken for everything under the sun (except for african american). Since I live in a city that has a large Asian population, I get a lot of people who talk to me in Chinese assuming that I understand, sometimes I get Filipinos talking about me in front of me thinking I can't understand because i am of a different race but last Friday was the first time I've been asked...
Do you speak English?
I was thrown off for a second.
Did I give off such a "fobby" vibe? Hahaha! Granted, the guy looked a little "off" but it's pretty funny now that I think about it. I should have played along!
"Whaaa? Engrish? No Speeky Engrish! No, no!!"

Wow! That's so random! It's so funny when Filipinos speak in front of me thinking I don't understand the language. Oh well...a lot of people can never tell that I'm filipino.
You crack me up....
LOVING our WWF games :)
Also, my boyfriend does an annual man weekend (good grief) around Labor Day (1st weekend in September). They wear man weekend shirts and of course I told him this year, he would be ordering his shirts from you!!
So one of these days I will be in touch about the man tees. I'll need your creative help to design them too... but I know you'll rock 'em!
LOL awww. I ALWAYS get mistaken for Filipino or Vietnamese. One time I went to dimsum with a few friends.. and the waitress automatically started speaking to them in canto. When it got to me.. she took a look for a few seconds, and then spoke to me in English. I'm like HEY I'M CHINESE TOO!!! Hahaha
P.S I went to dinner today and saw one of my friends wearing the ' I'll shoot you' shirt :D Think I'll get myself one before Asia!!
You know what's even weirder than being asked if you're a fob? Being asked if you're Asian. This happened to me two times. I was so taken aback I didn't know what to say. I stared at them as if they were joking but they weren't o__O And I look Asian too!
Hahaha that is funny. :P Places now have such a diverse mix of people. I guess it makes people more interesting in a way. Like last night I was watching UFC with the boyfriend and there was one fighter who came out with a South Korean flag and he had African American looks. :) After watching him for a while we could see he also had strong Asian features. Very cool. :)
People can't really tell what am I because I'm mixed race. Nobody has ever mistaken me as a Vietnamese until I moved here... I was on the airplane flying to Paris, the girl who sat next to me started talking to me in Vietnamese the moment my butt touched the seat. I didn't want to be rude so I let her finish (boy, she had lots to say!). After she finally stopped talking, I smiled her and said, 'Sorry, I don't speak Vietnamese.' I guess she was kinda embarrassed and didn't make a sound anymore. *lol*
ahahaha wut?! thats funny. and you don't look like a fob at all! no worries. some people are just...
Fob??? What does that mean?
I also don't know what a fob means x_x gotta look it up hehe.
You should've said, "hindi, ikaw?" HAHAHAHAHAA! ;D
Woahh i love this picture girl! =D i gave you a blogaward btw! ;) xx
fob stands for 'fresh off boat' doesn't it? lololol... i remember i was addicted to fob-ish style, which are cool, and well.. maybe i still am obsessed with it =9 loloolol...
and i love that pic you have up there, hahah.. -whaaa??? lololol <3
lol, I don't think you give a fob vibe at all! but I've never met you in person. oh I was asking about business cards because my friend was asking if anyone who I know does good designs, I thought ooh Kym has awesome t shirt designs, but she found someone, thanks for getting back!
and for the blogger pet peeve yea i HATE it when people say "visit my blog and follow me if you'd like!" like uhm no. or they leave a comment then with a HUGE space with "VISIT MY PROJECT AT BLA BLA BLA" that take up a huge chunk of space. regardless if someone jus leaves me a revalent comment I always reply back, I wish people would know that.
LOL that is hilarious, you should have played along xD
But *highfive* I get mistaken too all the time! I've been asked if I'm Filipino, Native American, Sri Lankan, Pakistani or mixed, while I'm actually Indian =/
It's about time to change Patikym to Fobikym :)
HAHAHAHA! This had me laughing so hard. What did the guy want?
the same way i replied "i dont speak english" in perfect british accent to some chinese tourist who asked me to help them buy LV in paris. lol
LMFAO! You had me laughing from the title of your post.
Oh noo! I've had something similar happen to me before. I wasn't sure if I should've given that are you stupid kind of look? or if I should've been offended?
I definitely can relate though I've been raised with a much stronger filipino background so I definitely can speak and understand. It's just funny because some people can't tell that I am filipino so they start talking shit not realizing I could possibly be filipino.
Honestly though .. you don't look like you come off fobby.. I would've smacked that person, LOL
LOLLL! wowww! i can't believe someone said that!! hahahaha~ you should pretend that you don't speak English next time~ XD
Ha! And I love the photo accompanying this post. Pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell!
I also remember during recess being asked, "Are you Chinese? No? Are you Japanese? No? Then what ARE you?!".
*SIGH*
LOL this face+ herro?= perfect for this scenario XD lol you don't look like a fob... not to me anyway :P
Fob...hahaha, it's been years since I heard that term :)
Okay, I made myself sound 100 years old.
i've ALWAYS been tempted to do that too!! (make like i don't know english)
ubber cute!!!
