Long Distance Friendships

click to enlarge... yes, you read correctly. the topic was "babies and boobies".

In 2009, I started blogging so I could document all the things I was making (like greeting cards, graphics, random things, etc) but little did I know that it would allow me to make great friends both locally and internationally!

Last Saturday, I had my first Skype date with friends i've been talking to online for a long time. It was fun trying to identify whose voice was whose and it was great to finally be able to put a voice to the face/picture. :) I was able to meet Nikolett for the first time last year since she also lives in Canada. In about 2.5 months, i'll be able to meet some of my friends who live in Asia when i fly to the Philippines for my 2nd wedding reception! :D

I remember a few years ago, people would get weirded out when you say that you met with someone who you met online but now, people are getting married to people they met online and creating long lasting friendships! I'm glad technology has allowed me to "meet" you guys! *awwwww* :)

What has technology done for you?

Speaking of long distance friends, my dear friend Krissy is celebrating her birthday on April 6th and she's giving away some AWESOME prizes, including a shirt from me! Enter the giveaway HERE!

What has technology done for me?

"Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster."

Technology allowed me to look up that quote just now. =)

I feel the same way you do. It's great to be able to meet such amazing people all over the world. I wouldn't have met any of my blog friends without it.

I have questions about the skype topic, but I think I'll just let it go this time.

Hi Kym!

Yes! Great technology! But I still feel weird seeing people who I met online, but sometimes I feel I know them better than seeing them offline. hmm... it depends on people! hahaha

For me, shopping online helps a lot when I know what I want and want to get cheaper ;)

Anyways, good points!!!

I'm in a long distance relationship, so technology is definitely my friend! Especially skype. Also, since I grew up with a parent in the military and I was always moving around, stuff like Facebook has definitely helped me stay it touch with friends. It's awesome, isn't it?

kym, i didn't think i would have made such good friends through blogging too. i started original blog to vent out pre/post exam and life as a medical student in general. cant believe now i'm working as medical professional, i still blog (albeit once in a blue moon).

surely one step at a time, so talk/skype-ing each other, and surely, one day we'll get to see each other and i honestly hope one day we can arrange for blogger buddy meet up :)
