California, My Second Home.

I've always thought of California as my second home mainly because my dad's side of the family lives there and i've lived there briefly myself. I haven't had a chance to visit as often as I'd liked because tickets from Vancouver to L.A were around $400-$500 so you can imagine my excitement when I saw a seat sale through Allegiant Air for a $60 ticket to L.A, roundtrip! I did have to cross the border into the United States first but what's a 45 minute drive compared to $400 in savings? :)
The last time I was at Venice Beach was in 2007 so everything seemed new to me again - the sights, the sounds, and especially the people! That muscular man was walking around with a creepy horn thing and he saw me trying to take a photo of him so he stopped in front of me, posed, and then asked me for money. -____-
One of the main reasons I visited was to spend time with my 5 year old cousin. I don't want to miss her growing up years so any chance I get to spend time with her is memorable. Although I must admit, spending time with an energetic and talkative 5-year old has been a bit of a natural birth control for me. Hahaha!

One of the highlights of my short trip would be getting to go to my first food truck meet-up! Vancouver does have food trucks but I can probably name them all in a minute. This meet-up was insane to me.... block after block after block of food trucks lined up offering everything from burgers to crepes to sushi. I got excited when I saw the Grill 'Em All truck since I've been drooling at their burgers ever since I saw them on The Great Food Truck Race. I tried their Witte Burger and I have to say... It's probably the best burger i've ever had. I'm still looking for one that will top it!
Read it and weep drool: Witte Burger - cream cheese, deep fried bacon, beer/sriracha onion, malt vinegar aioli

Don't Believe Everything You See on Facebook...

Last night, my sister-in-law posted a link on my brother's wall and made mention of "their kids" who are non-existent at this time. Just for kicks, I decided to see what would happen if I made a comment about her being pregnant (see photo above). The blurred out part is where people congratulated them on their non-existent baby and where people wondered whether my statement was true or not. My "heeheehee" came after they had to break the news to everyone that they weren't actually expecting. haha!

todays lesson, kids... don't believe everything on Facebook! ;)

Great Minds Think Alike

My sister-in-law & i bought the same dress when we were shopping in L.A. As I was getting dressed for church last Sunday, I had a passing thought "I wonder if she's going to be wearing this dress today too... that would be funny." When we saw each other that morning, we both screamed and laughed out loud... what were the odds we'd both be wearing it on the same day, styled almost the same way. You can imagine how many times people at church asked us if we planned to show up like twins. Haha!

Have you shown up to an event where someone was wearing the same thing?

Thankful.

Taking a break from regular programming (30 day blog challenge) to take a moment to give thanks. Here in Canada, it's Thanksgiving so i thought it'd only be appropriate to dedicate a blog post to it. :)

FAMILY - They are my support, my encouragers, my advisors, my teachers, my confidants...my best friends. Without them, i wouldn't be where I am today, they are the biggest blessings in my life.

HERRO HACHI - Wow. For those of you who have been following my old blog from the start, you know where and how my business started and what my journey has been like. (check out this post about my first attempt at making a shirt). This is what Herro Hachi has grown to today: www.herrohachi.com

I'm thankful for the people who supported me whether it was right from the start, the middle or just recently. I wouldn't be able to live my dream if it wasn't for your support.

FRIENDS...THE REAL ONES: What a lonely life it would be without friends by your side. Thank you for your friendship...whether we're "real life" friends or friends who met through blogging... and will hopefully soon meet in person *cough* asia blog meet-up when i'm in the Philippines next year *cough*

Thank you God for the roof over my head, the food on the table, the car i can drive to and from work, my loving family and friends, a growing business, warmth, laughter, protection, health, internet (hehe), and most of all... life.

What are you most thankful for today?
