Settling For Less b/c You're Embarassed to Ask...

My sister-in-law (husbands side) and I went on a date last Tuesday to watch CATS, the musical in Downtown Vancouver. When she bought our tickets she said that there would only be one row in front of us so we thought... "what are the chances tall people will sit in front of us?" Apparently the chances were very good that night because of all the people to sit in front of us, a tall lady and her family did!

My s.i.l suggested we ask for booster seats but we laughed at the idea and thought "how embarrassing would that be!" but after weighing it out, it was either a) waste $100 by only seeing corners of the stage or b) get over it, get a booster seat, and enjoy the show. When we asked the staff if we could rent them out, they said "well we don't normally rent it out to... big people like you" ^____^

This reminds me of other seemingly embarrassing situations where you just have to get over it so you can enjoy the moment! Like... spotting a celebrity and asking for a photo or returning a meal at a restaurant b/c it's not cooked right. Although I have to say, we don't do the restaurant one very often for fear of someone spitting in our food. Haha!

We were probably the only adults in the whole theatre with booster's but in the end, it was worth it! :P

Have you pushed past an embarrassing situation to get what you want?

The booster seat was a great idea--I wouldn't have thought of it.

Like you, we pick our battles with restaurant food. There are just too many ways they can retaliate. I once asked a waitress if she would ask her loitering co-workers to please move their gabfest somewhere else. They were loud, right behind our table and it was very annoying. When we got drink refills later, my SIL had something gross looking floating in her ice tea--it was meant for me, we were the only two @ the table drinking tea. =)

haha! this makes me laugh...

well, I don't wanna be embarrassed. I'm one of those people who'd rather settle for less than asking/doing something and be humiliated. But most of the time, I give to BF the asking part...

lol! it does happen ALL the time! but I didn't even know theaters offer booster seats =P

I think I'm a pretty shameless person... can't think of a moment when I don't do something due to embarrassment XD LOL

LOL Kim you're awesome for this. I would probably just suck it up and try to enjoy the show. Until I get annoyed haha.

When I was on my flight to LA... there was this annoying bratty kid who kept kicking my seat and wouldn't stop. After 1/2 hour I just couldn't take it anymore, so I spoke to his parents. Didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but sometimes it just has to be done :P

haha the photos made me laugh! It was definitely worth getting the booster. Wasting a few hours just staring at the back of that woman's figure would probably make me want to kick her. LOL personally I don't think it's worth saving a bit of awkwardness and embarrassment in situations like these! I think if you handle all the awkward situations in a polite, dignified and understanding manner it won't be so bad :P

I personally think you guys were genius for thinking of booster seats! I'm really short so tall ppl in front of me during shows are a frequent nightmare for me. Lol. I don't shy from embarrassing moment to get what I want. Though my bf prolly wish I do as I cause all sort of grief for him =.=

To buying a booster seat, I say - that's BOJANGLES! (it means you're wicked awesome and have crazy wicked logical skills). Definitely commend you for getting something that adults don't typically need to make sure you got to watch your show :D

hahah I love this story and you totally did the ballsy thing! I would probably just fume silently and secretly want to throw popcorn into that lady's hair all night, when really it's not her fault!

Oh god, I mean, sorry to all the overweight people, but they really should sitting towards the back because that is just horrible for regular size people to be sitting right behind them. I think it's hilarious that you got a booster seat, but at least it worked and you managed to enjoy your show :)
