Countdown to the Big Day

Planning Progress:
Even though i'm accomplishing things every day, it still feels like my to-do list is growing instead of shrinking. My fear is that i'm forgetting something big... kinda like when you're packing for a vacation and you forget something important like underwear (or your passports).
  • Bought vases for centrepieces through craigslist. Normally retailing for about $2-$3/pc, i got them for 50 cents each!
  • Found the silver glitter wedding shoes i've been looking for. They are similar to this Christian Louboutin pair that I originally wanted except it costed $50 instead of $3,695
  • Applied for our marriage license. I'm not sure I understand why it costs $100 to later declare that we are officially married. -_-
  • Best part of all... POCKY is going to be incorporated in our wedding. Ohhhhh yeaaaaahhhhh.
Feelings:
  • I've come to terms with the fact that though it is our wedding, we won't get everything we want because we have to accommodate requests from certain family members.
  • Planning can definitely get stressful. We've been tempted several times to just drop the planning, head to city hall and get it done and over with!
  • I tried on my wedding dress today. It's heavy and I wasn't really sure whether I was to "enter" from the top or the bottom... I went from the bottom and it was very awkward trying to search for the top opening through all that material!
46 days left!
for my new readers...
you can read our engagement story here!

how exciting :) you are seriously going to be such a beautiful bride! i love the look of the glittery pumps, it makes a statement and still says i'm fun! vases for $.50 is the shit, i use to work at a flower shop and know how expensive floral arrangements and materials can run up! don't give up, even if it is frustrating it will all come together, plus think of even though you two aren't going to get everything you want now, but one day when you celebrate a big anniversary you can throw a party of your dreams ;) oh and POCKY is the shiet!! Congrats, your wedding details as you describe them sound so beautiful!!

p.s. one tip i learned from my boss, if you don't have as much flower but want your floral arrangments to be fuller utilize colored/wilk flower fillers, it give it fullness and still looks like flowers. if all else fails you can always tape the vase opening in a criss cross shape with florist clear skinny tape and place flowers in the slots, it fills faster and remains in place better. can't wait to read more on your planning!

Vera Wang says to step into your dress, whatever you do. Because it's the last thing you do after hair and makeup and you don't want to take the chance of getting makeup on your dress. Hope this advice helps! So excited for the both of you. Hopefully the planning process hasn't been too bad and you've been able to enjoy some tender moments.

Hi Kym :)!
so the whole idea purchasing from Costco is actually quiet smart, many brides are on a really big DIY hype too so you might want to look into that and surf the web and look at designs that may appeal to you, also keep in mind certain flowers specifically colors may vary based on season. Also, I would usually recommend the flower market if you knew someone because they also do bulk and have more variety, but Costco should be able to meet your needs :). Another tip to make your centerpieces more personal, you could always include pictures of yourself and your soon to be husband like of you two throughout your relationship :), it lets the guest kinda see you outside of the wedding look. Oh yeah, another wonderful idea I saw a customer utilize is name the tables based on places the couple has traveled together and to include a picture from that place, it's another way to showcase who you two are as a couple :). Those are just some random tips, I don't know if they will be helpful but thought it would be nice.

best of luck and if you need any help i can try to help however i can, i can help you with breaking down the construction of your corsage and boutonniere if you need :).

So you're already married!!! Congrats hahaha! But can't wait to see the pictures of your actual wedding :> Laughed at the vases you bought only for 50 cents! What a bargain!! I know how hard it is to get inside a gown (although I've not tried wearing a wedding gown, I've worn a lot of gown made with heavy materials)! I'm happy for you!! It's so soon already!! :)

Very interesting you need $100 haha.

Wedding dress-up is stressful but fun at the same time. The heavy dresses remind me of that day... (I posted the dresses I wore on FB album. hehe) I wish I could have my wedding again.

Yay!! I'm intrigued to see how Pocky will be incorporated into the wedding. A Pocky bouquet toss? A Pocky wedding cake? Ha!

PS: I think you're supposed to step "into" the dress. So top first?

Oh my gosh, it's coming up so soon! 'Tis a shame that you won't be able to do everything you want, but having Pocky in it means that it'll be an awesome wedding! :D And I know you said Monday after 4pm would work but turns out we're mostly staying in Squamish. I'll be free either around noon on Monday in Vancouver or anytime on Tuesday 'til the evening (about 8pm), let me know if Tuesday works OK with you, sorry for switching this on you!!

Happy planning for your wedding. The whole process can be stressful but remember to enjoy every bit of it so as not to become a bridezilla. I’ll be looking fwd to more sharing about your wedding in time to come.

PS: I tot i was the only silly one who tried to wear the gown from the bottom. I felt really silly when the coordinator told me to leave the gown on the floor and stepped in from the top. Oops! No intention to imply you’re silly but I just felt relieved I’m not the only one.
