My Life in 5 Years...

clearly drawing isn't my forte... :P

I've always been a very visual person but never really knew the power of visualization. I've heard many stories of people who visualized where they wanted to be and got there. For example, I remember hearing about Charice Pempengco and how she drew herself singing on stage with her favorite singers... look where she is now.

I decided to do the same and set goals for myself in 5 years. A part of me is afraid because... 5 years isn't too far away but at the same time, I feel like if I don't put an actual number as my goal... it would just be left open ended and unaccomplished.

Above is a little preview of my visualization of the life I want to live. I keep it in my day planner and look at it everyday, visualize how i'm going to get there and imagine life as if I were already there. I look at it to remind myself of where I want to be so that I stay motivated to keep working hard.

How do you stay motivated?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hi Kym,

Friend of mine said the same thing! If you write your goal on a paper every day, your dream come true!!!

But I think is true. If we concentrate on one thing (hope strong), we can reach to the point somewhere close to the ideal!

My new home was something close to this idea ;)

Aww nice drawing, Kym! I do have some thought about where I "should" be in 5 years but somehow I can't bring myself to write it down. Too scared that I'll be depressed if I don't reach that goal! :\

That's an interesting idea! Kinda like a personal infographic? Hmm maybe I will have Mr. Artist draw one for me - mine would just be squiggles and stick people otherwise!

Is it sad that I don't see myself anywhere anymore? I come up with a blank. But it's a good idea to keep motivated - and I think your drawing is superb.

I like what you're visualizing! I hope you'll achieve what you really want!

Thanks for the idea! I think I could really use it now to fix my perspectives :)

This is awesome! I think making visuals of your goals and dreams definitely keeps one motivated! I knew a girl that had a scrapbook she'd make to write down and put onto paper her dreams and goals in life, it was pretty to look at and it definitely kept her going!

Personally I don't do much to stay motivated, maybe just daydream lol or look at past mistakes!

And as for where Im hoping to be in 5 years....hee hee hee that might make a good post topic =P

For me, having responsibilities has always been a great motivator, driving me forward when ambition wasn't enough. Maybe that's why I've always been so responsible. =)

I like your dreams... In five years I wanna have a baby already. I hope by then that "she" is already 2 or 3.

p.s.
I am worried for you, though, because in five years you wont have fingers anymore --- just your thumb (tsk tsk)

Okay, don't be freaked out now, but you just made me excited to see herrohachi kids!!! =D

There was a time when I was so sure of what I want to achieve someday, but now I think I might have to do a complete reset.

that's actually a good way to see your life and visualize it. it's nice to be able to fully grasp the reality of what can happen in your future. :) i definitely want to try this out myself.

it's always a family I've been dreaming about... me, the man I love and a kid or two in a cozy comfy house :D and since looking at you now, your dream is kinda coming true, I guess I have to do this too.. :D

Your drawings are so cute! You are exactly right about the power of visualisation! It has worked on many who truly believe and visualise. I drew a what I wanna achieve within a 4-year plan too! http://iamjolene.blogspot.com/2010/04/wishes-dreams-and-goals.html.
I’ve been feeling a little disgruntled lately ad I don’t think I can fulfil my travel wishes for this year. On the other hand, I’m thankful that I’ve been following my mantra of live, love, laugh, my goals of being healthy and establishing great friendships. However, there are still a lot to work towards.
