Giving for the Holidays!

I've always had a heart for children and for those less fortunate... i've been dreaming about giving back but have been slow in taking action. I finally decided that this year, I would give back by packing shoe boxes with little goodies for children in 3rd world countries through Operation Christmas Child. I wish I could see the look on those kids faces when they open their boxes on Christmas Day!!!

I dedicated the boxes to you guys, my blog friends from around the world! I couldn't name each and every one of you (hence the "kym and friends" signature) but i told each child that they were loved by someone from all over the world. :)

How will you give back this Christmas?

P.S - from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for your kind and encouraging words on my last blog post. it's comforting to know that people from around the world are offering to pray for someone they don't even know. Thank you. :)

Awww Kym. I'm sure the kids will love your gifts. I'll probably be volunteering at the hospital again this Christmas.

P.S. I hope your fiance gets well soon. Hugs!

i give back by working on xmas day as the person on-call in the hospital.very little in comparison to what you do, but i see it in a way that i keep those sickies company on xmas day and try to cheer them up :) as how they cheer me up.

btw, that is very noble of you to do such thing. recently, my boss passed away and when i saw in newspaper ad from his family: no flowers please. donation by giving toys to kids at one children hospital in town brought me to tears like hell that my other boss told me to go home (which was quite unprofessional of me :'( ). so that's what i'm going to do this xmas... on a smaller scale than yours =)

I like going to borders' and wrapping gifts -- it's my own thing I like doing by myself, and the gifts are going to people in need.

Aw its great to see you're doing Operation Christmas Child!!! :D I've been doing this through my school for the past three years with friends and it's always a rewarding experience knowing that those kids can have a happy christmas and receive presents, and hopefully forget about their worries, if just for a moment! Not to mention, it's always fun deciding what to put in, and decorating the shoebox ^^

Wow! I think this is a great idea and it sounds like a lot of fun! This year for xmas im giving back by donating some money to the WWF fund =) if I have anny money left I would like to donate to world vision too but we'll see how far my money will stretch lol

Oh my bf and I are still going to Tokyo! In janurary! He treats me too good! He's going to cover all the hotel fees =)

and regarding the rain boots, I've just placed my order off ebay! The pink boots won hahaha I hope they arrive VERY soon! and it seems like were right about snow this time, it was snowing up in sfu earlier today and also in south burnaby AND the snow actually stuck for a bit, which is frightening!

rep to your comment:

i guess you start to appreciate the little things. what makes our significant others makes us happy because they're happy... wait, did that make any sense? anyway, while i was reading your comment, i started thinking what if chris had the same problem as your fiance and he can't do the things that he wants to do... i know i would be sad :[ gosh, love is such a funny feeling.

hey! i hope your significant other is feeling better!

i actually always give donations as presents to world visions, too bad some of my friends don't care that much and then it's more like it's more for myself...

That is SO amazing of you :'D *Sheds tear* We need for people in the world like you!

Anyways.. yeah.. Well, I only order from elf when they have free shipping. Shipping to Denmark (even just from the UK) is rather expensive anyway, and they overcharge the products compared to US prices.. >_>' So yeah.. they aint gettin' my shipping-money! Haha xD

You are so so sweet, Kym.

I must admit I'm not very into charity work. But I'll get Wifey to bosst the economy with her shopping buys, hope this will create some employment along the way for some poor kid.

You have such a big heart ^-^ Your post inspired me to look into something like this. I'm sure the kids will be ecstatic opening the presents. I peeked @ the things in the box and the presents look great!

This is so great of you! For the past couple years at work, we have done a program through one organization or another where we buy clothes and toys for needy children. Even though I don't make much myself, it always makes me feel good to give back to someone even less fortunate than I am. I always wish I could see the child's face when they open the packages.

You live the true meaning of Christmas. It can be so easy to get caught up in our own issues and lose sight of how blessed we are and how much real need is in the world. I'm proud of you. =)
