And the Most Embarassing Award Goes To.....

ME!

Since I got engaged, I've made it a goal to seriously get back into shape... especially since the wedding dress i've got my eye on is pretty unforgiving. I recently signed up for classes at the community centre near my house and yesterday was my first class:

Y O G A

Before my class, I was practicing my "tree" pose which is one of the "easy" poses but I was disheartened when I couldn't even keep my balance for longer than 2 seconds! I went to my class anyway and was assured by the instructor that i'd be fine since it's a beginners class. The first half of the class was fine... a little stretch here, a little stretch there. Then she said, "alright, and now let's do the tree pose". Crap.
Needless to say, while everyone stood firmly with their opposite foot to their thigh, all I could do was put my opposite foot to my ankle (i couldn't get it up as high as the others) and I kept wobbling. Oh, but that's not the embarrassing part.

Before the class ended, we were told we'd take 5 minutes of relaxation so we all just laid down on our mats and closed our eyes. 2 minutes in, she instructed us to turn to our right and curl up our bodies into fetal position. What you must know is that i was at the end of the row so there was no one to my right so I had no idea what was going on behind me. At the end of the 5 minutes, I heard the yoga bell ring and thought to myself "I wonder what that means....?" ... I just remained curled up in fetal position and relaxed just as we were instructed before. *ding* the bell rang again.... I ignored it. *ding* Okay maybe I should turn around to see what's going on. It turns out... the bell meant sit back up on your mat and go into "prayer pose". All that time, everyone was sitting up in their pose while I was still curled up in the corner in fetal position... I guess that's why the yoga instructor kept ringing the bell... to get my attention. Are you picturing it? Are you picturing it? Every time I picture it in my head, it cracks me up. hahaha!

Life would be too boring without silly moments like that! Maybe the instructor thought you fell asleep.

Yoga aside, how would you describe your overall coordination? The way you can leap (and land without hurting yourself ;P), I always thought of you as very coordinated. Maybe this "tree pose" is harder than you think.

Oh my gosh, sorry about that... so funny!:D

LOL you're hilarious! She probably thought you fell asleep.

I love working out but never taken yoga because I like hard and intense exercises although I do plan on taking a yoga class in the future to work on flexibility.

For maximum fat loss, you should try out short and intense tabata routines. They are killer and most can be done in under 20 minutes!

Kym, what were you thinking? :-P

hahaha omg I can picture it! ( or just look at the picture you posted up) lol well everyone has their embarrassing moments, kudos to you for sharing it!

Yes 400$ is a lot so of course I was |(easily) able to talk myself out of buying them while I was holt renfrew, Im not made out of money, I could easily buy a pair that's 60$ and stash the other 340$ away for a rainy day (which we've got a bunch of lol)

The ghost train was pretty good! Keep in mind it's not half as colourful as the Christmas one but it's nice to do during a holiday, if you count Halloween as one lol.

I also notice something else that goes on in our city, but Im sure it happens everywhere too, all sorts of stores are already selling xmas items and this started a few weeks ago while it was still September. When I see xmas items in September I always think....wait... Halloween hasn't past...it's still September right!? why are there wreaths and ornaments n superstore?!

Thanks for the comment on my nickname! My real name is Samantha =) oh good luck with the wedding planning! It sounds super fun, but I know what you mean about weddings being more costly now, it's not wonder people rather throw 30,000$ towards a new house than a wedding!

I'm more of a treadmill type of person haha. and soo funny about the country song! ohh my a tracker really does mean a tracker huh. I remember my friend showed me a song called "my truck got stuck" and it was literally 3 minutes of this guy singing about his truck getting stuck!!

LOL KYMMMMM you are adorable and my HERO! I would never attempt yoga in public because of A) gross joints that crack anytime I try to be flexible and B) I'd probably be on the mat next to you, mouthing the words "Are we still in the fetal position?" This is why I love yoga Youtube vids haha.

By the way, I've tagged you in a little questionnaire on my blog and went on about the awesome package you got me - so thankful <3 ANNNND I found the lemon candy at Pacific Mall (the Asianest mall in Ontario), but thanks so much for looking!!!~

Aww it happens it happens. I do yoga too and the tree is hard. Plus it's just so relaxing at the end to lay on the mat.

On another note, I can't believe I'm so late. Congrats on your engagement.

Oh girl... I did Yoga over the summer and it was a disaster. First of all... I had to wear spandex. That was the first fail. And then I was constantly worried about farting while everyone was all zen and stuff. And I was constantly falling over. Funny shit!

Meream said...

Haha! THat is the funniest thing! :D

Kalmo said...

Aw that's a cute story haha.

Nicole said...

I could totally see myself doing that. Maybe that's why I don't do yoga in public. Thanks for the laugh! :)

lmao! i do love your illustration :D reminds me of the few times i've fallen asleep in class.. >__>; the most recent time was when i was in a psychology class, the teacher was taking us on an exercise into our subconscious.. and man, i was REALLY excited to do it!! but i guess i was way more tired.. fortunately i woke up right as everyone else was easing into consciousness again but i was super sad :( then we were told to draw what we had 'dreamed' and i just.. drew a lotus LOL. and bowed my head in shame and hoped that it wouldn't be too obvious.
