In my pre-teen years, I wished for anything Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren.
In my early teen years, I wished for the newest and most popular pair of kicks.
In my late teen years, I wished gatherings and time to celebrate with friends.
In the last two years, I wished just to spend time with my family.
This past birthday, I wished for the above..........
........and for a set of measuring cups and spoons.
Sis-in-law: what do you want for your birthday?
Me: measuring cups and spoons to add to our kitchen collection.
Sis-in-law: no seriously, what do you want? it's your birthday!
Me: seriously, that's what i want.^__^
It's funny how things change as you get older! This year, I spent my birthday picking up furniture, hanging out at Costco to find good books and an air conditioner, going around town to find free food/drinks that are offered on your birthday, and spending time with my family. And i was perfectly okay with that. :)
Have your birthday wishes
changed through the years?

Oh yes, definitely! My birthday wishes before would just include toys and books, but now I just prefer to host birthday dinners for friends and family. My biggest secret birthday wish though is a surprise birthday party, and I am so happy I got it this year! =)
I'm glad you got what you wished for, Patty ;D Regards to everyone there ;)
I guess we grew up and know what matters the most to us. For the last two years or so, I've wished for happiness, love and success, not only for me but for my family and friends as well! x
I actually had a moment and squealed as I remembered what Poly Pockets were. Love the nostalgia post.
I remember the sneaker craze in junior high, Addias and Vans. I always just wanted money for my birthday though lol. I wasn't into to MU/beauty at all until I got older (21). So now I want money to spend on those types of frivolous things guilt free. XD
Aww I totally remember Polly Pockets! Do they even make those anymore??
It is funny how our expectations change throughout life. Never say never!
My bday wishes have definitely changed throughout the years =D I feel like it used to be all about me and what presents i want... now i prefer good company versus material goods.. granted if i were to recieve a present... i wouldn't reject it XD lol
Thats so true you do change a lot once you get older. I use to always want toys when i was younger, such a spoilt brat :p but now that i'm older it really doesn't bother me what people get me. As long as they bring themselves to my birthday party, thats all that would make my day/night :))
I'm going to ask for kitchen stuff and furniture for my birthday too this year. =)
LOL.
I couldn't help but laugh at this post because this was how my birthday was this past year. You'd think for my 21st, I'd ask my parents for something cool, well this was my list...
1) curtains for my living room & bedrom to cover up the ugly blinds I had in my apartment
2) curtain rods for both rooms
3) a new iron (I had been taking wrinkles out of my clothes with the same flat iron I used for my hair! >__<)
4) an ironing board (I used to iron my clothes on my bed)
HAAHHAHA
I completely understand what you're taking about.
This year for Christmas guess what I'm asking for?
...either a sewing machine or a mixer for cooking/baking!!! LOL
<3,
Dana
When I was a kid, all I wanted for my birthday are toys, toys, and more toys! Now that I'm already an adult, all I could think of are things (both material and non-material) that can make me truly, as in honest-to-goodness happy. We're indeed starting to age, Kym! :)
*lol* I totally understand that! I've received food processor, Le Creuset dutch oven, Espresso machine, pressure pot... for my last birthday and Christmas. What do I want for this year? Maybe more Le Creuset and I'd love to have a KitchenAid mixer!
so true. as we get older, we stop to want the big things in life, but more of the simple things. hehehe... is it because we've been around everywhere already?! like been there done that kind of thing that we're ready to settle down and use measuring cups to make a simple dessert like cake? just yesterday, i asked my bff what she wanted for her birthday and she said a bag of rice. just in case she runs out . hhahaa... like as in a 40lbs pound bag of jasmine rice that is. silly young adults! haha!
anyway... i enjoyed reading this! thanks for making me chuckle.

Happy belated birthday!! :) I know exactly how you feel. My parents were BUGGING me to tell them what I would want for my birthday because I SERIOUSLY have no idea. I really just want to go to a really good movie and stuff myself with lots of food! ;)
Belly B :)
I loved my polly pocket! I had a couple, but my fave was the one with the water slide, with polly wearing her water wings lol. Did you have that one?
To reply back to what you asked on my recent blog post, I have no clue what her intention was? I communicated with the person back and fourth, even went as far as to send my mailing address via e-mail because they asked for. After waiting 3+ weeks I e-mailed questioning whether maybe the shipping address was wrong? -The person then said they contacted the post office, and the post office said that it was lost in the mail. So they said they'd resend it OVER NIGHT with some other goodies since it had taken so long, and once again waited a week- and nothing. I e-mailed the person letting them know I hadnt received it again, and no reply since. Shady business right?
ahh i know how you feel. I used to always ask for the coolest hit things and everything materialistic, now all i ask for is good company because it's so hard to come by nowadays.
btw, i used to have an obsession with polly pockets too. I think i actually still have them in my basement somewhere lol
HAHAHA oh my.. that's true! It's funny to look back at what you used to wish for - crayons, toys, stuffed animals.. and now you wish for makeup, gift cards, cash and stuffed animals. wait.. is that just me? *hugs plushies*
Last year for my graduation party I wished for stuff for my apartment.. I can't believe that I'll (hopefully) be moving out in less than a month! It's so exciting but it also scares me to death.. T_T; eek!
Oh I can definitely relate, except now that I'm back to living with my mother it's unnecessary for me to ask for those type of things, haha. However, you're going to want more things for your home as the mos. and years passes you by. I remember when I moved out I was so focused and excited to just go home shopping. It was like Christmas to me. It definitely is crazy how the materialistic things we want completely changes as we get older. I guess my grandfather really loves the different sets of flashlights we get him every year, lmfao
yes changes a lot! i wrote on suki's post but when i get vuitton bag or any other brand, even if i think a lot before i get one, i get bored in few years...
yeah... maybe i shouldn't get one! haha
My birthday is nearing and I'm just asking to be with good company enjoying a day out to the hills with the doggie (Alfie), eating ice cream and then having a nice carvery meal.
I understand you soo well! we get older the interests are changing but not worse
happy birthday!

Haha love your sis-in-law's reaction. And yep, growing old does weird things to birthday wishes. I used to want books, then cutesy stuff. Now I only want gift checks. Hahahahaha!
LOLL it really is interesting how your wants change as you grow up (: I used to love beads to make necklaces and bracelets with~ But now I just want baking stuff (like you ^^) and makeup stuff~ hahahaha :D & then when I'm older I'll probably want tea cups and stuff o___o haha~
Definitely! Browsing kitchen stuff gives me a high...lol.
awww i remember my polly pocket days although im a little confused why they were called polly pocket. those things didnt exactly fit in a pocket. lol
i completely agree with you. my bday/xmas wishes have changed over the years. last year i wanted a dresser out of all things!! xx
I remember the Polly Pocket days! Then one of my friends at the time stole them -_____- Did you have a pokemon phase too?!!?! Lol.
I know how you feel. My cousin asked me what I wanted for Christmas last year and I told her a crockpot -_____-

I've heard of Polly Pockets, but don't remember what they looked like or if I knew anyone who had them.
At some point, the wish was not to be forgotten and for it to not cost me too much. =)
