An Expensive Lesson Learned

Last Friday, I went to one of the busiest parts of our city to run errands and what I hate about this part of the city is that it's mostly pay parking on the street (as opposed to a parking lot). I found an area with many cars parked so I decided to park there too. This was 2:43PM. When I returned to where I parked my car at 3:17PM, I was stunned... I couldn't find my car!!!

It turns out my car had been towed. The signs said "no parking from 3PM to 6PM" and I didn't think to look since I saw many cars parked there when I arrived :( When I went back to my car, none of the other cars were there so either we all got towed or the other people were smart enough to look at the signs. Haha! And the kicker? My parking violation ticket was clocked in at 3:15PM, 2 minutes before I arrived. BOOOO!!!!

Total cost of lesson? $144.50 CDN. Ouch.
What's the most expensive lesson you've learned?

The most expensive lesson I've ever learned? Hm, probably quoting a client an hourly consulting rate that's too low. It's costly because I am kind of stuck at that price.

But then again, I can always fire that client, so I kind of have a say in how costly the lesson would be.

Oh no! What a very expensive lesson! Ouch! I know it's totally off the subject but I just wanted to let you know how I'm sooooooooo excited for you, you're wedding is coming closer and closer Kymmyyyy! Oh and as for the crash diet, well I stopped eating rice, stopped drinking soda and I jog for 45 minutes at least 3 times a week!

hi kym!

yes! i had an expensive lesson in the past, which was 500 bucks!!! i had a water like feel in my ear and went to see my local ENT doctor. then he recommended me to see another doctor at a big hospital, so i just simply did what he taught me... then after all the tests, there was nothing wrong with my ear but i was charged the amount X( later, i found on the net that i was simply tired and that kind of water feel is a sign for fatigue... i wonder why doctors didn't realize it... anyways, i should have asked the doctor the amount first, before he wrote referral form...

UGHHHH that totally sucks!!!

I gotta admit that I SUCK at parking my parents' car. They have a Kia Carnival, and the steering mechanism is just plain AWFUL. It's like driving a freaking FERRY! >_<"

omygosh! :(( what a big fee you have to pay :| but then again, even here in the phils, it's also costly to get towed. take care next time :)

Yikes! I bet they were just waiting to pounce on all the unsuspecting cars. I can't believe they TOWED you instead of just giving a ticket.

OUCH! And that's INSANE that they already towed it away only 15 minutes into the no parking from 3PM-6PM. Probably not a very expensive lesson, but I kept using my savings instead of my chequing account on my bank account, not realizing that after 2 savings transacations a month the bank would charge me for each one. I ended up losing $15 in one month ... which isn't very much but it felt like it!

ughs mine (or should i say my HUSBANDS) was over $500 bucks USD!!!

i told him not to park in that particular parking lot because it wasn't for the food place we were going to.. but he was like ' it's ok we'll be in and out in under an hour '.. well we were in and our in under an hour and our car got towed in that hour.. between the taxi and the towing fee it came out to $500 bucks! i.was.so.mad.

we were at neimans the very next day.. HAHAHA. actually in hindsight considering we had already spent $500 that probably wasn't such a good idea ahahaha.

Oh that sucks!

My most expensive lesson was $100. It was one of those "No Turn On Red" signs where a picture is taken of your car if you turn on red. Not cool, especially because I wasn't familiar with the place yet. Haha!

Oh no! :( This happened to me as well. It cost me about $200.00 to get it out of the lot!

Accck that sucks >.<

The most expensive lesson I unfortunately learned the hard way was: it is not safe to commute alone at 4AM. This is when my bag containing my two phones, digicam, other valuables and P8,000 was snatched. Thank God my netbook was not taken I still feel sad and scared when I remember that x_x

ack!

That happened when I was with a friend at last years Folk Fest at Jericho Beach. We got back to the too-good-to-be-true parking spot to find it gone. We had to take the bus at walk to the impound lot.

Sorry to hear about your car and the very close timing. I had to pay a ton of late fees in library books. ^^ Really silly.

That adam's apple wasn't even noticable at all--anyone would have mistaken that dude for a girl!!!

OMG this sucks!!! Yeah they're really strict with the parking times and conditions downtown, tow trucks literally stalk those places and hook up your car when it's 3pm!!! It's crazy there!
