The Aroma of... Intestines.

I like to think i'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food - i'll try most things at least once but at the same time, I have spent the most number of years living in North America so "weird" food here doesn't really compare to the types of food you see in Asia. My fiance on the other hand, can stomach almost anything... in fact, he accidentally ate mold once and continued eating it after he realized what it was... he claims he was that hungry. haha!

Yesterday, we went out for bubbletea with friends and his eyes lit up when he saw PORK INTESTINES on the menu. *cringe* I was fine with him ordering it since I wasn't planning to have any anyway but when it arrived, i almost threw up... not because of what it looked like but because of the smell.

It seriously smelled like BUTT.

My fiance laughed and asked "how do you know what butt smells like" - you just know! It's like how one time, I tasted something and said it tasted like feet... i've never tasted someones feet before but you just know! haha!

What's the smelliest food you've come across (or eaten) ?

hahah "How do you know what butt smells like?" So funny. But Intestines are probably the smelliest food I have eaten too, it looks good though! But I don't like the texture either :(

Haha I laughed when I read this. I'm Chinese and grew up eating all sorts of weird things. The texture isn't my favorite so I might have to say that pig intestines one of the least favorite things to eat.

That's called isaw here! :D

I hate the smell of Century Egg! But I know what you mean about just knowing what a specific food tastes like, like when I refused to eat something (I already forgot what it was) because it tastes like cockroaches!!! Not that I've tasted cockroaches ever, but you just know :D

there's a lot of really smelly food that have come across that i don't even want to think about it because i might loose my appetite for lunch. xD

on thought however, i really don't like the pungent smell of durian and how the smell clings to everything and lingers... X___x

intestines kind of smell like smelly socks IMO! LOL! >o<"

Corned beef and cabbage, sauerkraut, caviar. But generally, if it stinks, I don't eat it. I've never even made my kids eat liver or saurbraten. I feel like a bad parent because of that, but so be it! As a kid I would surround a piece of liver with mashed potatoes and tried to just swallow it all without chewing. Yuck!

A nice side-effect of that is I can take as many huge pills as I need to all at once--antibiotics, vitamins, NyQuil, whatever. Gulp! LOL, that's not exactly a super power, but it came in handy when I had brochitis.

PS - Your kitten would be a tiger if someone was bothering you. =)

I agree..Certain things YOU JUST KNOW! Haha.

I can't think of anything that's stinky right now but I know I can't stomach the smell of cooked pork! Whenever I walk past any Chinese foodstalls here selling pork I just have walk away real quick.

ahhaha omggg kymmm i actually like pig intestines LMAO ahha but the ones ive had NEVER smelled like butt O_O_O_O!!!!! i have yet to find a place here in los angeles that serves BBQ or fried ones though, same as chicken intestines, i think i'll eat anything but animal testicles, penis, eyes & bugs!!

RTC: when we left the country, i saw the same exact thing, snowy mountain surrounded by clouds, it was awesome!! it looks amazing from up there! =]

It actually doesn't look too bad on the picture :p But I wouldn't eat it just because we have the possibility to eat other parts of a pig, so why would I choose his freakin intestines x) ?

The smelliest thing I've ever eaten is camembert. Not very adventurous is it :p ? But i can"t eat things that stink, it's just not appetizing !

I would have ate it if you didn't tell me what it was. From some angle, it reminded me of croissants. =p

Hhahaa mold is gross, pig intestines is not XD
Actually, I think the one gross thing I dislike most is stinky tofu. I've been told the reason is because I just didn't have a well made stinky tofu but I found the taste to not be good enough to endure the stinky smell :(

Btw, haha I use to HATE putting on false lashes too but I'm much better at it than I use to be--probably can get them both in and dried in less than 5 minutes now. I usually use tweezers to apply and adjust; and I always use the Duo eyelash glue :) Makes a world of difference!

OMG at your fiance eating mold ... that's probably the grossest, smelliest thing I've ever come across on food. One time, my parents received these brandy chocolates and we kept them in the wine celler since it was around Christmastime and we got chocolates from EVERYONE. We decided to eat them three weeks later and they were COVERED with green fuzz. Bleerlghghg.

So yeah, I probably wouldn't eat the pork intestines either, but I'd have a TON of bubble tea :) Love youuuu~

I've tried pig's intestines. They're a piece of cake. The smelliest is stinky tofu, when you walk around Taiwan's streets. But when it's fried, it doesn't stink at all, so it's no big deal. But the smell, when you pass a mobile stall (uncle on a bicycle), really shakes you up (or wakes you up, if it's early in the morning), hehe..

i don't think i would ever try intestines.. or testicles.. much less starfish, hahahaa. ewww.

Hahaha! Yep, intestines do smell like butt. Those are probably the stinkiest food I've eaten, too. :)
