Blogging Pet Peeves

We've all got at least one. This one is on top of my list.

THE COPY & PASTE COMMENTER. You know who i'm talking about... the ones who comment with really generic one word (or sometimes two if you're lucky) comments, the ones pretending they read your post but they really didn't, the ones commenting in hopes that you comment back so that their blog post on their cats new costume will get 86 comments. It's the one where you are writing about how your grandmother is really sick, she is in the hospital and your family is broken and begging for prayers. Everyone comments with their well wishes, thoughts, and offers their prayers and you get that ONE person who comments with:

What is/are your blogging pet peeves?

I gotta agree with you - especially the worst are the ones who only 'read the photos' as was it a kid's picture book.

Also I REALLY hate it when people post their link in the comment too. Like.. Dude, I can press your username and find it myself if I want to. -__-"

I must admit that I hate blogs with music in them. ESPECIALLY if the player is hidden somewhere sneaky so that you can't turn that shit off! Ò__ó

cute!

Okay hahahah the above comment was just my attempt at making you scream. ^^ Those copy-paste comments are probably the worst. I used to have this guy who uses the same comment on 15 other blogs, telling everyone to read his poems. WTH?

Unknown said...

Can I say "Cute!" here? lol!!!
I totally get what you're saying girl...

This really must be a pet peeve of yours, because I'm pretty sure I've seen you post something like this before.

I'd say one of my pet peeves is people posting every weekday just to say they posted even if they have nothing to say.

나니 said...

Haha, I love them too!
You don't say -_-" When the guy told me to smile, I got so awkward cause I didn't know that you were allowed to. So I just kinda sat there like ^__,^"
It was kinda weird. lol xD But they turned out.. rather decent.

EXACTLY! It's so stupiiiid! -raises fist-

You too <3 : D

I don't like, when some people complain about the topics I write in the sense of: What? Another Taiwan post? It's making me nauseous. (<-really happened). I'm not forcing anyone to read. If you're not interested, skip it. And don't demand perfectly entertaining posts from me all the time, I'm not paid for this, it's my hobby -_- Well, I didn't really reply that, but that's what I thought :) I rather see people don't comment, if they didn't read. Reading blogs and commenting shouldn't be a chore, it should be fun, right? You're spot on with all the things you mentioned, it used to make me annoyed, too, but now I'm like whatever...

i sooooooooo get what you mean! i think i've seen a lot of those... mostly on other people's blogs, though. i think i've gotten some of those... and sometimes i'd rather they didn't bother anymore!

my blogging pet peeve is when they comment and then leave a parting line: "visit my blog too" or i've gotten some where they say: "your blog is so nice. i like this post. if you want more traffic in your blog... go here!"

sooooooooooo annoying!

Roxy said...

so true I HATE the copy & paste comment but whatever a comments a comment I guess? I was just browsing your blog and omg <3333333! I just followed & I feel so inspired from reading your blog it makes me want to post more! :) Thanks for the feedback btw!

Carine said...

When I don't have anything to say, I just shut the hell up :p

I also don't like it when people say lol or rofl or lmao all the time. I know they're not actually laughing or even smiling so why writing that ?

Denysia Yu said...

Haha, omg yeah that's annoying! I've never gotten anything like that but it must really make someone mad whenever that happens.

Marie said...

If the word "Cute!" would actually make sense with the blog post I did, I don't mind... I don't expect people to write a paragraph on my comment section BUT if they write "Cute!" and there is no connection at all, now that's a different story!:D

ummmmm SPAM.

haha I'm so happy about the new spam filter now though :D

"kawaii!"

I cannot tell you how often I get THAT comment & I just think, "oh, thank you for wasting my time that it took to check to read this pointlessnesssssssss"

As blogging pet peeves go this is probably my biggest one too. And you're right, it's when it happens on the most random entry where you're talking about how sick you are, OR about something that deserved a horrible review and it's just, uh, really.

dolce la robyn said...

i've to say sometimes (only sometimes lol) i get irritated when people end their comment with:

visit my blog & read my post!!

hmmmmm.

so kymchi, visit my blog & read my post?? =P

kidding!! ahahhaha

Hehehehe I had ramen at Santouka on Robson, but the picture on my blog is actually just a noodle joint...unfortunately I forget what the place was called but it was in Richmond by Parker Place and you can choose your own broth, noodles, and toppings :D I miss Vancouver so much! I really didn't get my food fix :X

MizzJ said...

Cute!

hahaha sorry, just had to. I know what you mean, and have actually had people tell me they just look at the images and don't read. Man are so lazy we can't even read blog posts now?! My peeves are auto-playing music players (if I want your music, I'll play it myself) and people who change their font color/sizes all over the place in their blog (so unprofessional!)

izumi said...

LOL SRSLY!

izumi said...

teheh (: i know what you mean though. what's almost just as annoying are those people who come through and say "your blog is a great read!" blahblah "(insert name and blog URL)" whether or not they tell you to check it, then why would they have a "sign" line.. on commenting?! it's not like it's a default, like it is on emails. gargh!

Ricademus said...

I have not had that happen often, but it is very annoying. I consider deleting the comment, but don't because my self-esteem is completely tied to how many comments I get. =)

I'm amused by blogs that require a verification word and approval of a comment before it appears. It seems like a lot to go through--but I've never been blog-stalked, so I don't judge.

Unknown said...

UGH I TOTALLY get what you mean :P I mean I don't expect people to analyze my posts but for Chrissake, READ it if you want to comment.

And a lot of people mentioned this but I dislike people who follow their 1-2 word comment with their blog URL or post in my chatbox with "love ur blog! Please check mine too and sub me"...this is basically a guarantee I will never sub/follow the person EVER. And I usually delete the comment as well since it's not worth reading.

Also not crazy about people who tell me that "I'll follow you if you follow me" -_-;;...I'll follow you if I want to.

Georgina said...

CUTE font! LOL

i always get "cool blog!" on my posts, pretty random. hehe :P

Anonymous said...

I also hate getting comments that scream, "I'm doing this so you'd better do the same for me!" Tss. Unfortunately I see a lot of that everywhere. I got quite a few in my old blog, actually. Blogging has become a popularity contest, I suppose.

As for blogging pet peeves I absolutely HATE seeing LOOOOOONG entries with several ideas squeezed into one paragraph! That's really annoying! Oh, and music! I really don't like when I enter a page and Lady GaGa starts singing. I'm like, "Where's that coming from?!"

Anyway, rant over. :D

Unknown said...

I TOTALLY agree with you. I have one or two of those random ones sometimes. It's like they can't read or even compare what others are saying before they copy & paste something lame and totally inappropriate. Or they comment and say "I love your blog, pls add me". Ugh :p I hate that!

littletiara said...

agreed!!! Man, that's so annoying, I mean... aarrghh...

and I kinda hate blogs with auto-played songs, because I always always turn on my music player and when I open a blog, I suddenly hear other songs and I got confused which page is the song coming from so I have to check everywhere and... -.-"

oh well...

ching said...

haha..damn, i've encountered them. tsk3 those kind of people should put in more effort to actually interact with other bloggers. Oh well.

Ricademus said...

But I'm a spammer with heart--every comment unique jibberish. =)

I do understand about using the word verification to hinder those who would litter your blog. I just don't think I would combine it with monitoring every comment the way some bloggers do--since I could delete the spam on the back end before it posted. Oh Lord, I AM commenting jibberish. Sorry!

Ricademus said...

The nerd in me was compelled to run a test. The comment tally goes down if you use the "remove forever" option, but not if you just delete it.

Mana said...

hahaha I also think this word is overused but a lot of people and a lot of different circumstances! I hate it when I go shopping and I hold something up and all my friend can say is "cute" to EVERYTHING! I don't mind one or two items but is that all you have to say? ugh...anyways enough complaining lol

thanks for the congrats btw! sorry it took me a while to get back lol Tokyo is an amazing city so I hope you gt to visit there some time soon! Oh and as for failing the 30 day challenge? practice makes perfect lol!(not that im perfect in any way!)

Shingo T said...

Haha, just don't bother to give them the attention that they crave for.

One of things I like the least is for people who leaves a link to their site on their comment. If I really want to see their site, I will click on their profile.

Have a great day ahead!

Shop N' Chomp said...

Haha! I know what you mean. XP I also love the ones where they ask me a question I've already addressed in that very post. But it's ok. I get that peeps are busy and just want to show some love. ;)

Ysh ♥ said...

Nice! Cute! Cool! Exlinks? lol Aaahh. Some people. -_-

There really are 'bloggers' who leave comments just to get comments in return. I'm not asking for a lengthy comment, they should've just at least take time to read and post something related or their reaction to what I've just posted. I din't like reading "Nice blog. Exlinks?" -_- If I like your blog, I'll link it without thinking twice.

Anonymous said...

agree (: !

Meream said...

Oh that IS annoying.
I have to say though that your typography is CUTE. For realz. :)

ochikeron said...

Yeah, I agree with you! We do have the same blogging pet peeves in Japan, too!

Anyway, I can't understand strangers who tag me with friendship or something which I can hardly resist... I don't mean that I don't want to be a friend but that is too much for the first comment, you know...

Anonymous said...

Cute !

Anonymous said...

Just joking !
ROFLMAO ! Seriously, stumbling onto your blog was meant to be because I catching up on some blog reading and thinking about the things that just really get to me when it comes to blogging.

I got to thinking about blogging pet peeves because I often leave (what I'd like to think is) thoughtful, genuine comments after reading someone's post, particularly if I liked it or if it was thought-provoking. And I'll take a couple of minutes to think about what I want to say and type it out and then you never receive a response to your response ! Maybe it's not such a big deal if you have lots of commenters and followers, however, I've always garnered much respect for those who do take the time to read your response and reply back. Simply because one could have easily not written anything. It's just nice to form a relationship with the reader !

Another thing is bad spelling !

Anonymous said...

Haha, I hope you don't mind that I've commented three times in a row ! I'm becoming like spam ;-x The comments for this post are really amusing ! I agree about the music thing and the leaving links and asking to visit the commenters blog.

So it's probably going to be hard to get you to believe this with all the criticisms of people saying this but I actually really do like your blog from the posts that I've just read ! I like how you ask questions and try and get some interaction with your readers. You also seem to have a great sense of humour ;-D

MissEmy said...

oh yes, that does get super annoying!!

I think my biggest blogger pet peeve would have to be people with music that starts instantly when you're on their page! I can be listening to my own stuff perfectly happy.... then suddenly I have to turn down the volume and frantically search the page for the music STOP button. :)

HAHAHAHAH YEEES! i hate those people, or

I got what you're talking about. That lazy commenter. Oh now that really boils me. Another one that I can't stand are anonymous commenters cum haters. seriously, they are really annoying, I'd rather not have any comments.

krissy ♥ said...

What if I say "cutest everrrr!" Will that still irritate you? AHAHAHAHA!

Oh Kym oh Kym oh Kym, ang lapit na! We're going to have so much fun laughing out loud, I just know it :D

Sarah said...

Totally agree with you on this! I hate people who comment with something that has no meaning to your blog post, or just put "great blog, visit mine" with their url included. I'd go as saying this is worse then annoymous commenters - really, what is the point?

C. said...

LOL great post, Kym. Isn't that what blogging is all about? How many comments you get? For me, it's about readership and knowing that there's people out there who can relate to what I'm going through, regardless of whether they comment or not. There's so many blogs with very little substance. My pet peeve is people leaving comments completely irrelevant to whatever I post. That I find is most annoying. Again, great post and have yourself a nice weekend, Kym.

Farah said...

Hahahahahaha!!! I totally get it! but my current pet peeve is the fact that I keep getting all these spam comments and I dont have any idea on what triggered it! annoying much!!

Katy said...

Wow people actually do that! I think I've had a couple suspicious ones but I didn't really look into it. I think it's common on Blogspot though... I don't have too many Blogspot bloggers commenting on mine since mine's not on it.

annndie said...

Ahh I know what you mean!!
BUT "cute" is like one of the ones I HATE ... haha

Even on pictures and when I post my music online. How does my singing sound cute.. really? Lol

Kalmo said...

Yes, there are comments when you can def. tell that people just left a generic comment and did not read your post... or are trying to promote their own LOL

Melissa said...

ughhh! I agree completely. Very annoying, especially when you've spent a ton of time writing a heartfelt post. Better not to comment at all!

Steph said...

ohhh i've seen those before~ i agree with Melissa, sometimes it's better not to comment at all~

Butakimu's Profile said...

LOL! I wasn't expecting to see the word "cute" as an example.

I would usually assume that it's spam and delete comments that doesn't relate to my post.

But yes, this is definitely an annoying one. I also hate the ones that ask me to "visit and subscribe" to their site as well.

??? said...

to be frank, i actually dont mind as much, i mean if i see a comment with just 1 word, i'll leave it, it doesn't bother me. But i do get where your coming from though, i mean if you saying smth bad happend in your life, then this person just leave cute, thats just stupid...

I always read the post b4 i leave my comment, and i take time(granted not long) to think about wt im gonna write down.

Right now i copy and paste my giveaway, but like i said i always leave a real comment b4 posting that up...i dont wanna come off as a spammer(though i dont think say ing now makes me less of one at the moment) lol....
